The Drobo won't be able to read my data, just erase it prior to integration into the Drobo unit so what I'm wondering is...is there a way that I can get the data off of my firewire before installing the clean drive into the drobo? Or should I just get an enclosure as well?

I thought that this post linked from Bing Bong was so interesting that I had to bring it over here. I usually don't write about art or its concerns over here, but you just have to check it out.

So there are these cities in China whose core industry is the reproduction of famous oil paintings, such as Da Vinci, Raphael, Van Gogh, or O'Keeffe, to name a few. They are reducing what is supposedly a medium that has some intrinsic value apart from that which is materially derived....to purely that. Of course if you think about it this isn't really new in many respects. Those very same painters who they are reproducing frequently worked with schools of assistants, while conservators routinely have to make value judgements in reproducing, repairing and otherwise copying a particular artist's style.

Regional, what appears to be an arts organization/publication, has partnered with some artists who live in these cities in China and have asked them to take on a pretty interesting task. They were asked to create a self-portrait, some for the first time. Because they typically work in the style of one artist, these techniques translate pretty amazingly to the self-portraits.

I feel like when I look at these paintings I'm looking into the present, much more so than if I looked at those Chris Jordan pictures, or Richard Prince appropriations, for example.
